Have you tried these bowls of extreme deliciousness? I’m talking about these yummy Poke Bowls from Hawaii!
Nooo, not THAT Poke Ball… Poke Bowls! (It’s pronounced “poh-kay”… like “okay”)
Poke means “to cut” in Hawaiian, and the dish consists of cubed raw fish marinated in soy sauce and sesame oil.
The first time I tried it was at a restaurant and it was sooo yummy and looked super simple to put together, I just HAD TO make it at home! These beauties can be served as an appetizer, but you can also enjoy them as full meals with a variety of your favorite toppings.
My toppings here: avocado, red radish, corn, nori (dried seaweed), edamame, and carrots on top of quinoa… isn’t it beautiful? It tastes even more delicious than it looks!
Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl
- 1 pound sashimi-grade Ahi tuna cut into 1 inch cubes
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon rice wine vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
- 1 teaspoon sriracha optional - for spicy tuna!
- Cut Ahi into 1-inch cubes. Place in a large bowl.
- Add soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, sesame seeds (and sriracha if making spicy tuna) into bowl with Ahi and mix well. Cover and refrigerate for a minimum of 2 hours.
- Serve piled high on steamed rice, quinoa, or salad leaves in a large bowl along with your favorite toppings.
